Top 5 VR Games to Expect in 2017

December 26, 2016

We’ve had so much fun with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift games this year, and the time has come to let PlayStation VR join in on the fun: from what we’ve seen so far, PSVR games look really, really good.

So here's our list of 5 games from all VR platforms we definitely want to try out in 2017!

5. Farpoint by Impulse Gear (PSVR)

Farpoint is an unnerving VR space adventure set on a hostile alien planet. On a mission to pick up scientists studying an anomaly near Jupiter, a rupture from the anomaly transports the player and scientists to an unknown alien world.

Basically – it’s a Sci-Fi shooter, and if you like killing aliens – you should definitely check this game out. We expect a lot from this one and we sure hope it will be as immersive as it looks in the trailer.

4. Robo Recall by Epic Games (Oculus Rift)

Robo Recall is an action-packed virtual reality first-person shooter with gratifying gameplay and an in-depth scoring system.

The game seems to be dynamic and really fun, so we can’t wait to take control over these sophisticated, charismatic robots, and shoot some guns - and it's Oculus Touch-enabled!

3. Resident Evil 7: Biohazard by Capcom (PSVR)

Fear and isolation seep through the walls of an abandoned southern farmhouse. "7" marks a new beginning for survival horror with the “Isolated View” of the visceral new first-person perspective.

Resident Evil is a classic and even though it had some serious weaknesses in the past, VR promises to take the horror to a whole new level. If you've ever played a horror game in a dark room and felt scared that something might be crawling behind you, just imagine how much scarier it would be to play it in VR. We've already got the chills.

2. Essence by Onevision Games (HTC Vive)

Тhere is no memory. No information what happened or why. Nothing about you, nothing about your life. You are in a world you don’t remember seeing before at a place forgotten by time and space.

The game is a crossover between first person exploration and non-violent adventure with metroidvania elements, beautiful landscapes and interwoven open world areas. Storytelling seems to be top-notch in this one and we definitely love that aspect. More and more games forget how important storytelling actually is if you want to dive into the game and feel its atmosphere. Storytelling and VR combine great so we expect Essence to be one of the best VR games in 2017.

1. How We Soar by Penny Black Studios (PSVR)

How We Soar is a VR flight experience that gives you the chance to take up the reins of a beautiful, giant Phoenix and explore an enchanting papercraft world. Seated on the back of this mythical creature, you will reform, rebuild and paint in color as you soar across the paper environment, uncovering the story of the mysterious Author.

Man, this one looks great! We all love the good ol’ fly-through-rings type of games but we’ve never seen one as beautiful as this one. The papercraft world looks amazing and flying through it makes you appreciate every little detail. The game offers immersive flying experience, and the music is so peaceful and beautiful, it will help you relax after each hard day. Also, flying in VR is awesome!

What VR games do you expect in 2017 and what seems to be your favorite one so far? Tells us here in the comments or at our Facebook page! We wish you all a very happy 2017 and may all the realities you dive into be great!
